Hello, I’m 75 years old and I’m trying to learn how to watercolor. How do I fix it so that you’re writing doesn’t color a picture I have no idea what you’re doing but when you have a picture up, it was beautiful. Is there anyway you can put the writing right across the top of the screen.

Just a friendly reminder... It's okay to not talk sometimes while filming a painting tutorial video. Don't feel like you have to say something every single second of a 20 minute video. It is hard on you, and it can becoming annoying listening to someone talk non-stop for twenty minutes. Even someone with a sweet voice like yours. Please don't be offended, that was not my intent. I spent years in media, television, radio, video, print, etc, as an advertising agency owner, and my intent was to offer some helpful advice. I realize when people first start out in media they think silence is awkward if they aren't talking every second the camera is rolling. But that simply isn't true. Just as it is unnatural and annoying to listen to someone who never shuts up in real life, it is the same when watching someone on television or video. So I just wanted to free you from feeling like you have to talk for the entire video. I just found your channel and I am enjoying the simple clean style of your landscape paintings. I really liked your misty trees video. I had been wanting to know how to paint a misty scene for quite a while, and you taught me how. I agree with you that painting the cabin windows a glowing yellow would have really added a nice pop of color and a glowing warmth. Why do we always think of our best ideas after the fact? lol! I must say, I was amazed by that green deep deep light paint drying blue! I wish their paints were not so expensive, they are really natural looking and so pretty, but a bit out of my budget a the moment. I am a subscriber now so I look forward to more great videos from you. Thanks!

I'm obsessed with your trees, they are so gorgeous! Do you have any specific tutorials, or advice, on how to replicate that brush stroke? I've been trying with limited success. Regardless thank you for this tutorial, you've gotten me closer to the trees I've been struggling to paint for months!

Thank you for this video! I have been using this as a practice sketch video, and after about 8 views, I am sick of my brush! I do not have one quite as pointed, I have tried all of mine, and bought another. And I still can’t get that feathery, needle-y texture. So I pulled out my triangle brush, and my trees started looking better! Not as good as yours, but not triangular blobs!! They actually have texture! Thank you for this video!

This was such good information and instruction for me! I live in Northwest Montana so the landscape nearly always includes mountains. I am about 7 months into watercolor, drawing, ink and wash ... at 69. I was teased about my art as a child so I sometimes battle that inner voice that says "I am not a good artist". Thankfully, via words like yours I have learned (mostly) to enjoy the process and redefine "good". I tried all of the techniques and will practice more, but I am liking my mountains - thank you!! I know this is a year old video, but ... I am mostly a coffee drinker: hot, strong and black or for a treat a mocha latte. I also enjoy Rooibus (red bush) tea and other herbals. I have a tuxedo cat, Oscar (3 years old) and an English Shepherd, Emmett (6). I live rurally on wooded acreage so we get outside a lot! I loved hearing your cats playing in the background!

This is so pretty, Jackie! I’m trying to learn how to do watercolor correctly. I usually use pens/graphite that let me get precise detail, but watercolor seems to be a whole other ballgame that is building off of layers! 😅 Thank you for tutorials like this!

Hi Jackie, I recently purchased two sets that Natasha Newton put together for deep deep light and as expensive as they are they are so so worth it and I can’t wait to get one more 15 colour set to finish my collection. I absolutely love their paints they are amazing and I prefer them so much more than the mass produced watercolours on the market. I loved this swatching such beautiful colours. The ladies were so lovely to deal with they kept me informed on delivery and were so kind. xxx
